In this project, we will research viking long-ships. You will learn about the history and architecture of these ships, and then create your own viking long ship in Sketchup! We will print them, and they will be a model you can keep forever! Make sure to work very hard on your design, and listen closely to instructions. This will be your most challenging 3D modelling assignment yet, so work hard!
Step 1 - Read through all the information below with the class, and share what you already know about viking long ships.
Step 2 - Watch closely as Mr. Weimer demonstrates how to make a model of a viking ship on the computer
Step 3 - Begin creating your 3D model on the computer. Take your time, and pay close attention to detail. Remember, if any part of your ship is flat or hollow it won't print!
Step 4 - Export your file as an OBJ and save your ship on Mr. Weimer's USB drive
Step 5 - Write two paragraphs to go along with your ship (remember, your ship will not be printed until your paragraphs are finished!)
Paragraph 1 (minimum)
-Introductory sentence
-Fact 1
-Fact 2
-Fact 3
-Conclusion sentence
Paragraph 2 (minimum
-Introductory sentence
-What went well while making your model?
-What did you struggle with?
-How did you solve this problem?
-What are you proud of in your model?
-What would you change for next time if you were to design this again?
-Conclusion sentence
